Hello Readers,
It’s your webmaster back to update you on what SLVHS’ ASB has been up to! We have have quite a few successful events so far this year, including a Distracted Driving Assembly and action plans, Club Day, Breast Cancer Awareness Day, the Fall Sports Rally, and the Annual Costume Contest.
Distracted Driving:
We were lucky enough to have a great group come and speak to the school about distracted driving. Many students felt that it was impactful, and some even say that they have had an impact on their parents consequently! In addition, the ASB class had an extended assembly to work closer with the Impact Teen Drivers Program, and we have been working on action plans to spread and continue the awareness the assembly initially provided for the school. One group of ASB representatives sat in front of the school before a football game and counted how many people were driving with distractions. Another group is working on a program for the middle school as well. We are working hard to keep San Lorenzo Valley safe and undistracted, so help us out by keeping your hands on the wheel and eyes on the road!
Clubs:
Here is a list of the wonderful clubs we have to offer at our school:
Anime Club: Get anime and manga fans together and discuss/promote japanese-style graphic novels. To join see Julian Norelivs.
Fashion Club: Gives students the opportunity to create their own clothing line that will be shown in a Fashion Show in Spring each year. To join see Christina Lofranco.

I offer my sincere apologies for the delay in updating our blog; SLVHS ASB has been settling into the first few weeks of school, and we are about to roll right into Homecoming and Spirit Week! We have been busy planning and have come up with some awesome spirit days:
9/19- 9/23
Monday- Superhero Day (Also the overall Homecoming theme)
Tuesday- Wild Wild West Day (A great excuse for wearing flannels and cowboy boots!)
Wednesday- Harry Potter Day (Gryffindor- Seniors, Slytherin- Juniors, Ravenclaw- Sophomores, Hufflepuff- Freshmen {not required but recommended})
Thursday- Star Wars Day (May the force be with you)
Friday- Red & Black Day (Cougar Pride!)
The Homecoming Rally will be Friday, 9/23, between 4th period and lunch. We will be announcing and describing the Homecoming Court, as well as voting as a whole school at lunch. We will be carrying the tradition of class lipsynchs; each class has a superhero theme. Seniors are Batman, Juniors Spiderman, Sophomores Superman, and Freshmen Cat-woman.
The Homecoming football game is against the Watsonville Wildcats Saturday, 9/24. Freshmen play at 9, JV at 11, and Varsity at 2, with Homecoming Court announced at half time:) The same day, the Homecoming Dance will be held at SLVHS from 7:30 to 10:00. Be there, it’s going to be a lot of fun!
Until next time!
